Learning to count banjo timing is critical on the banjo. Producing a steady rhythm of picking is the very most important thing for a banjo player. Make sure you understand and master the timing exercises in the Fundamentals of Five String Book before learning songs. Watching at least the beginning of the Rock Solid Timing DVD is recommended in the very beginning too.
