Review for "Deering Eagle II 5-String Banjo"
Eagle II 5-String Deering Banjo Bluegrass Banjo with Resonator - Easily Converts to Open Back The Deering Eagle 2 5-string Banjo with resonator is an excellent bluegrass banjo with lots of punch and if you ever had a need to, it can be easily converted to an open back banjo. Unlike the one piece flange that is used on most bluegrass banjos, the Eagle two features a two piece flange that can be removed. The flange is the round decorative metal band around the banjo that the resonator is attached to. The flange is used to tighten the head brackets against. You could take the resonator off a banjo with a one piece flange, but not remove the flange. On the Eagle two, the two piece flange could be removed and the banjo converted to an open back. The Eagle II banjo represents the latest in tone ring innovation from the collaborative efforts of Greg Deering and Jens Kruger. It features the ground breaking patented Twenty Ten Tone Ring; a Deering original crafted unlike any other traditional tone ring. Made of brass and producing a tone with a very rich mid-range and good bass and treble response, the most unique feature of the Eagle II banjo is that it is suitable to both clawhammer/frailing and bluegrass, among other styles.Rarely has there ever been a tone ring model that could claim this but customers who own the Eagle II have proclaimed its utmost versatility in this respect. Whether you are a professional or a dedicated banjo enthusiast, the Eagle II will help you soar to new heights! Deering Eagle II A/E

Eagle II A/E
I’ve had this banjo for a long time. The more l play it the more l appreciate it. I’ve had many banjos, good ones, however none scratch the itch like the Eagle A/E has. It’s really well designed. Incredibly well built and finished. It looks good but not over done. The Kavanjo pickup is outstanding.
The banjo responds really well, plays easy and has plenty of power. Apart from those things, the sound produced is quite amazing. Full bodied. A lot ofmid range tone.. In fact that is a designed feature which makes this banjo work in so many music styles. Ive played with various bridge and tailpiece, all very interesting,
but l return to the original setup. It seems the best.
If your like me and want one banjo that covers a lot of ground playing with friends and family or gigs the Eagle fits the bill.
I’m no different than other folks that get attracted to the latest and greatest banjos being produced these days. Wondering if l might rather have one of those instead. Then l occasionally get to play one of them. They ARE really impressive but never enough that l would consider replacing the Deering Eagle ll. It works for me. Really happy with it.
