Hi Ross, I received my new Gold Tone Tenor banjo. I was sure it would be a nice banjo for the simple reason your recommended it. I was very pleasantly surprised after it arrived yesterday. It truly is a beautiful instrument and it plays better than I had expected. Now I will just need to learn play more than 3 chords Open-mouthed smiley emoticon which I'm working on. Like many first time tenor owners, it was between this and the Goodtime 2 -19 Fret tenor for me. While they are both wonderful instruments, I decided to go with the Gold Tone for 1. The fact that it has a truss-rod, and 2. Despite the fact that both are both priced as entry-level instruments, the Gold Tone just had a personal feel of an instrument far beyond it's price point (yet over $150 cheaper than the Deering, I might add). Though made in China, the craftsmanship is excellent and the setup done before shipment was superb. I couldn't be more thrilled with my choice and look forward to many years with my Gold Tone.
The Banjo Cruise
The Banjo Cruise Workshop is held in a large private conference room that is essentially sound proof and separate from all other passengers. The workshop takes place during the days we are at sea so you can visit all ports and still have plenty of time for fun with your spouse, family or friends while on the cruise.
