Your instructional materials have helped me
Dear Mr. Nickerson, Just a quick note to let you know how much your instructional materials have helped me. I have the How To Practice and Banjo Jamming videos, and the Banjo Encyclopedia book. I have been playing for a few years, and after an initial sense of accomplishment, I came to a standstill. Once I began using your materials, I began to progress again. So many good tips! Holding my right hand correctly instantly improved the sound of my banjo. Memorizing the basic rolls helped me to see and feel patterns. Memorizing songs has made my playing so much more fluid, and actually made memorizing ever easier (although I am a very slow learner). Playing through mistakes has made me much more able to recover mid-song I am really having fun, and am delighted when occasionally my hands seem to know what to do without my thinking about it! I have so much more to learn, just from the materials I have, and I look forward to learning all of it. I (almost) feel like a banjo player now. Thank you so very much.

how can I be so lucky
Thank you...how can I be so lucky?! And I can't tell you how much my playing has improved and keeps improving since I started Ross's lessons. I am playing with groups regularly (jams) and enjoying it immensely. Have even got to be lead banjo! People just can't believe I have been playing for less than a year. My wife actually asks me to play something for her now! Obviously I haven't lost my excitement or enthusiasm about learning the banjo! And I know it's corny, but I couldn't have made this much progress without a system of learning that fits my learning needs. You hit all the keys - text, video, sound, and reinforcement. I just add the time - lots of it - and the dedication to learn, practice, review and keep challenging myself. And the best part is the play along lessons/cds...they give me a great way to practice what I have learned from the lessons and how to play with the CORRECT timing.
