The AC- Mini comes Tuned to Standard Open G Tuning
This smaller banjo with 8 inch head and shorter neck is still tuned to G Tuning. Most smaller scale banjos come tuned to Open C tuning. I played this banjo tuned to G and it works great.
Having a mini banjo that is tuned to Open G is an advantage for learning from instructors, and playing along with others that are tuned to standard open G tuning. Teaching Videos, DVDs and CDs are predominantly presented in Open G tuning so this wont be an issue with the AC-mini.
Just to clarify though, Open C tuning does not make the banjo harder to play. The songs you play and know are played the same/ You are just in a different key. Its like playing a normal banjo with a capo on the 5th fret. Open C sounds great and is no problem, it can just be an issue when playing or learning with others that are in open G tuning. The AC- Mini comes tuned to open G.
