Notes from Ross:
I know a lot about Gold Star banjos having played one for 12 years in the 1980's and 90's. The new Goldstar Banjos have the same quality or better. In fact, the neck fits are better making them even more stable for better tuning and they sound great. Goldstar is by far the closest in looks, quality, tone and workmanship to a Gibson Mastertone of the 90's and 2000's of all the imports by a long shot. When you hold one in your hand they feel every bit the same quality. I'm confident if you had the opportunity to play both you would agree. I had a brand new Gold Star GF 300 in my hands not long ago and I could have sworn it was a Gibson Granada. The looks, feel, tone, it was astonishing to me. My customer bought it new from us for $1995, amazing.
