Lightweight Hard Shell Foam Banjo Cases
Lightweight hard shell foam banjo cases are a great alternative. They protect the banjo as well as a standard wood hardshell banjo case for all intents and purposes and they make your banjo much lighter to carry. If you play bluegrass banjo we all know how heavy banjos are (we do, but know one else does, until you hand them one :) A normal hard shell banjo case isn't light either, both together weigh about 20 lbs. This might not sound like much to an average person but it is when you carry it very far and it can tweak your back, and more than it already is from being a banjo player. :) I just started using the Guardian lightweight banjo case for bluegrass banjos and really like it.
